Cheney Claims Not Voting for Harris Equals Abandoning Constitution

(DailyChive.com) – Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) made a bold statement during an interview over the weekend, saying that voters would be “abandoning the Constitution” if they didn’t vote for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

Cheney’s remarks were made during an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” hosted by Jonathan Karl. During the interview, she explained her decision to endorse Kamala Harris over the Republican nominee, Donald Trump. This endorsement took many by surprise, especially given Cheney’s past strong criticism of Harris.

Back in 2020, Cheney didn’t hold back in her warnings about Kamala Harris. She labeled Harris a “radical liberal” and warned that her policies would be disastrous for the country. Cheney claimed Harris would raise taxes, take away guns, limit healthcare options, and drastically increase the size of the federal government. She even suggested that Harris wanted to reshape America to look more like cities experiencing unrest, like Portland and Seattle.

Fast forward to now, and Cheney’s tune has changed, though she insists her values haven’t. According to Cheney, the upcoming election isn’t about politics as usual. For her, this vote is about protecting the Constitution. She emphasized that conservatives who care about the Constitution have a duty to recognize the unique threat this election poses.

Cheney explained that voting for Trump, or even writing in another name, is not just a simple party decision this time around. In her view, doing so means siding with someone who has shown a willingness to go against the Constitution. She feels strongly that this election is about more than just Republican versus Democrat. It’s about whether Americans will uphold the principles of the Constitution or let them slip away by backing Trump.

For Cheney, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and she believes the future of the conservative movement depends on what happens in this election. It’s a moment, she suggests, that calls for difficult choices, even if they challenge party loyalty.
