(DailyChive.com) – On Thursday, left-wing journalist Ken Klippenstein published a detailed dossier about Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, which may have been hacked from the Trump campaign. The document could have come from material the Iranian regime obtained by hacking. Iran had given this information to several outlets and journalists, who had all declined to publish it—until Klippenstein did.
After the release, X (formerly Twitter) suspended Klippenstein’s account. Elon Musk, who owns X, explained that the suspension happened because Klippenstein chose to publish private information, which he referred to as “one of the most evil doxxing actions we’ve ever seen.” Musk said that the leaked file included personal details, like addresses, and pointed out that there had already been two attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life. The information could put Trump and others, like Vance, at risk.
Klippenstein defended his decision on his Substack page. He claimed that the dossier was offered to him, though he didn’t believe it came directly from Iran. According to Klippenstein, the 271-page document was created by the Trump campaign to research Vance, who is now the Republican Vice Presidential candidate. He stated that, to the best of his knowledge, the document had not been altered. However, even if it had been, Klippenstein argued that most of the information could be easily verified.
Meanwhile, Iran has been involved in more than just hacking during this election season. The regime has reportedly been working to stop Trump from winning the presidency again. This includes a murder-for-hire plot. A Pakistani man, Asif Merchant, has been charged with trying to hire people to assassinate Trump. Prosecutors say Merchant was willing to pay up to $1 million to have Trump killed. He has pleaded not guilty.
FBI Director Christopher Wray called this plan a serious national security threat, adding that protecting Americans from terrorism remains the FBI’s top priority.
