AG Letitia James Faces New Lawsuit for Targeting Pro-Life Groups

(DailyChive.com) – Pro-life organizations sued New York’s Democratic Attorney General Letitia James for violating their free speech rights protected under the First Constitutional Amendment by forcing them not to disseminate information about abortion reversal pills.

The groups believe that James’ attempts to sue the pregnancy centers for informing Americans about the abortion reversal pill, progesterone, threatens their free speech rights.

In her lawsuit, James accused pregnancy centers of intentionally propagating misinformation among pregnant women by sponsoring a pill that is not backed by medical experts. The AG office also suggested that pro-life centers aim to deny women their right to abortion.

The US Food and Drug Administration permits pregnant women to take two oral doses of mifepristone followed by misoprostol. However, some women take progesterone after taking just one dose of mifepristone to reverse their abortion.

According to the Alliance Defending Freedom, many women regret their abortion decision, with some attempting to reverse the procedure, a choice that James seeks to restrict.

Multiple anti-abortion groups assert that progesterone can successfully reverse the effects of drug abortion and help women who regret their decisions right after performing the abortion.

The lawsuit also discussed the story of a mother who successfully reversed abortion after taking progesterone.

Progesterone is a well known supplement to reverse chemical abortion, the lawsuit continued, and helps women who are lured into doing chemical abortion or those who do not want to abort their child after starting the abortion process.

However, James does not want to allow freedom of choice to such women, the lawsuit added.

The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, which is a plaintiff in the lawsuit, noted that James does not want women to know about abortion reversal protocols despite their scientific significance. The group also suggested that the efforts of James are not legal as they disallow the freedom of information to women who are in dire need of medical consultancy during their abortion process.
