In a brief interaction with reporters before heading to Camp David for Christmas, the President explicitly attributed his decreasing popularity to the media’s handling of his economic agenda.
When reporters probed him about his outlook on the economy for 2024 and the upcoming re-election campaign, Biden responded confidently, stating, “All good. Take a look… Start reporting it the right way.”
This assertion follows a recent Fox News poll revealing President Biden’s challenges within his own party. Fox Business host David Asman offered his perspective, commenting, “Talk about shooting the messenger,” as he pointed out that 61% of Democrats, along with 93% of Republicans and 85% of independents, expressed discontent with the current state of the economy. Asman underscored that instead of addressing the concerns raised by the poll, President Biden chose to assign blame to the media.
The Fox News poll indicates that a mere 14% of Americans believe they have benefited from President Biden’s economic policies, with a significant 46% indicating that “Bidenomics” has personally resulted in a financial setback. Notably, 78% of respondents delivered a negative assessment of the economy’s current condition.
Furthermore, the poll unveiled growing dissatisfaction with the country’s direction, as 68% expressed discontent. Among Democrats, this dissatisfaction surged from 20% in 2021 to 47% in the latest poll, marking a substantial 15-point increase.
Looking ahead, economic concerns loom large for Americans, with 44% anticipating worsening economic conditions in 2024, while a mere 22% believe in improvement within the following year. As the 2024 presidential campaigns gain momentum, the economy has emerged as the paramount concern for voters, closely followed by the issue of illegal immigration. These findings underscore the profound impact of economic policies on shaping public opinion as the nation approaches the upcoming elections.
