(DailyChive.com) – President Joe Biden’s new budget allocation for border security enhancement to foreign nations has ignited controversy amidst our ongoing struggle with illegal immigration at our southern border.
The recently approved budget, authorizing a staggering $1.2 trillion in federal spending, earmarks approximately $380 million to bolster “enhanced border security” in Tunisia, Egypt, Oman, Lebanon, and Jordan. Jordan is set to receive about $150 million.
The Biden administration has faced intense criticism for this decision, with many pointing to the dire situation at the southern border. RJ Hauman of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE) expressed shock, suggesting that the Biden administration prioritizes managing an invasion at home while simultaneously assisting other nations in building border barriers.
Former Field Officer for Immigration and Customs Enforcement John Fabbricator echoed similar sentiments, condemning the administration’s apparent hypocrisy. He highlighted the deteriorating state of the border, emphasizing that while it worsens, the Biden Administration is allocating $380 million to other countries to secure their borders. Fabbricatore warned that such actions could be perceived as deceptive.
Meanwhile, the United States is grappling with an unparalleled border crisis under the Biden administration. Since President Biden took office, officials have reported approximately 9 million nationwide encounters and an estimated 1.7 million “gotaways.” This surge starkly contrasts with the 415,000 total reported gotaways during 2018, 2019, and 2020 under the Trump administration.
Further complicating the matter, the Biden administration has flown as many as 320,000 foreign nationals to at least 43 different American airports nationwide. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) proposed an amendment to halt taxpayer-funded flights. However, the measure failed by a narrow margin, with every Democrat Senator voting to allow the flights to continue.
Amidst these developments, President Biden has received poor ratings from voters, particularly concerning handling the border crisis. Recent polls indicate that the Democrat incumbent is trailing behind the GOP presumptive candidate, Donald Trump, with a dismal 36% approval rating from registered voters on his immigration policies, according to a Harvard CAPS Harris poll.
As expected, immigration remains the top concern among registered voters, ranking even higher than inflation regarding personal impact.
