(DailyChive.com) – The Oversight Project of the Heritage Foundation has found that President Biden’s executive order aims to register convicted individuals to vote and promote this agenda with the help of left-leaning organizations.
A couple of months after assuming the presidency, Biden signed an executive order titled “Promoting Access to Voting” and called it a “nonpartisan” effort to expand the voter rights of Americans. With this order, Biden allowed the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to disseminate voter educational material in jails, among other things.
The Oversight Project also revealed that the White House organized a “Listening Session” to promote this executive order, where the administration unnecessarily focused on registering convicted individuals to vote. All the NGOs present at this session were heavily left-leaning.
According to the notes of the meeting, an official from one NGO, Sentencing Project, emphasized that the BOP should take appropriate measures to inform newly eligible voters of their rights in jail. The same official claimed that disenfranchising felons is an act of voter suppression.
Similarly, an official of the Campaign Legal Center stated that the convicts who are released from the jail should also be informed about their voting rights. Many attendees of the meeting also focused on increasing awareness of voting rights among new immigrants who have recently become US citizens.
One official from the MALDEF even stated that government employees should be trained to teach voting rights to non-citizen immigrants.
Meanwhile, some officials also asked the administration to translate voter registration websites into different languages and that the immigrants should be given their voting information during their naturalization ceremonies.
According to the Oversight Project’s memo, the Biden administration is relying on government resources to overtly attempt election manipulation.
Senate Democrats also asked the DOJ to increase its efforts to promote voting rights in prisons. The Democratic lawmakers admitted that hundreds of convicts cast their votes in recent elections due to Biden’s sweeping executive order.
