Biden Protects Palestinians, Offers Them U.S. Jobs

(DailyChive.com) – The United States president has signed an order that shields Palestinians residing in the United States from deportation while also directing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to relax work requirements, facilitating their integration into the American job market.

In a memorandum issued on Wednesday, February 14, to DHS and the State Department, Biden granted most Palestinians in the U.S. “Deferred Enforced Departure,” The memorandum effectively blocks the deportation of most Palestinians from the U.S. for the next eighteen months. This measure was initially proposed to Biden by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a far-left advocacy group.

Additionally, the memorandum mandates the DHS to facilitate employment opportunities for noncitizens whose deportation has been deferred. The agency is encouraged to ease regulations to enable Palestinians on student visas to work in the United States.

However, critics argue that Biden’s move aligns with the administration’s long-standing economic agenda, which aims to bolster the nation’s labor market with an influx of both illegal immigrants and legal migrants. This strategy, they argued, helps big corporations keep wages low by adding more foreign workers to the labor pool.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan defended the decision, citing the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza following the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel. Sullivan said that Biden’s directive offers Palestinians in the U.S. a “temporary safe haven,” with the caveat that those who return to Palestinian territories voluntarily would forfeit their protected status.

Amid mounting pressure to safeguard Palestinians in Gaza and provide aid to the embattled enclave, Biden has faced criticism for not advocating for a permanent ceasefire in the conflict while maintaining support for Israel through financial assistance and arms sales.

Former Democratic congressman Dennis Kucinich condemned Biden’s agenda, characterizing it as a ploy to drive down wages, citing the detrimental impact on America’s working and middle class.

In light of these developments, recent employment data reveals a worrying trend, with nearly three million illegal immigrants and legal migrants entering the U.S. workforce since late 2019, while native-born American employment has declined by close to 200,000 during the same period.
