Bill Maher Impressed by Trump’s Fast-Food Visit, Criticizes Harris

(DailyChive.com) – Bill Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time, surprised some viewers when he gave former President Donald Trump credit for his recent media moves while also calling out Vice President Kamala Harris for ignoring a major opportunity. During an online segment called “Overtime,” Maher and his panel tackled the hot topics of Trump’s podcast appearance with Joe Rogan and Harris’s refusal to do the same.

A viewer asked if Harris made a mistake by not going on Rogan’s popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Maher didn’t hesitate: “Yeah, I think it’s a mistake. It’s a mistake she didn’t do this show.” When Colorado Governor Jared Polis asked if Maher had invited Harris to his own program, Maher confirmed, joking, “Of course! We would’ve bumped you for her.”

Polis chimed in, saying he hopes Harris will appear on Rogan’s show eventually. He argued that the more people see her, the more they’ll like her. “She needs to get out there,” he added.

Meanwhile, Trump made headlines by joining Rogan for a three-hour interview, which was released Friday night. After rumors circulated that Harris’s team had discussed a possible podcast appearance with Rogan, her campaign eventually cited “scheduling issues” as the reason she didn’t participate.

Maher then turned to another question, this time about Trump’s viral McDonald’s visit in Pennsylvania, where he briefly posed as a fry cook. CNN commentator Van Jones called it a smart move. “When a billionaire does something unexpected, it’s brilliant media,” Jones said. “And we’ve got to admit—Trump’s winning the publicity game. His stunts show up in everyone’s social feeds, even people who don’t care about politics.”

Jones encouraged Democrats to take a similar approach. “We were having fun during the Democratic Convention. If we become the party of fun, more people will join us. We should do wild stuff too.”

Maher agreed and warned against reflexive hatred of Trump’s antics. “Hollywood folks instantly go to, ‘I hate him,’” Maher said. “But that just makes them look weak—like they’re too easily triggered.”

He closed with a humorous observation about politics being driven by personality. “Some people think Trump is fun. I don’t get it—just like I don’t get Taylor Swift!”

Polis jokingly added, “I bet you’d bump me for Taylor Swift.”

“Oh, in a heartbeat,” Maher laughed.
