(DailyChive.com) – An administrator at Disneyland Club died after being thrown out of the golf cart driven by a reckless driver.
The tragic accident happened on June 5 around 11:30 am local time when a golf cart moving in the backstage area of the park went out of control due to reckless driving and resulted in the death of the 60-year-old worker Bonnye Mavis Lear who had been working in the park for 24 years.
As Lear flew out of the cart, her head was struck on the road, resulting in head trauma and a fractured skull.
Right after the accident, Lear was transferred to a nearby hospital in critical condition where she succumbed to the injuries on June 7 after remaining under observation for two days.
Although police have called the accident a traffic collision, the friends and colleagues of the victim suggested that the reckless driving resulted in the cart hitting the road bump, which threw Lear away.
Reportedly, Lear was sitting in the rear seat of the cart, traveling at almost 20 miles per hour in the back side of the park, which is temporarily closed.
The California Adventure attractions cast member Rae Delgado suggested that it was a brand new cart, however, there is speculation that the vehicle was somehow faulty.
The cart had a faulty handrail, Delgado stated, which contributed to the accident. It remains unclear whether the remaining passengers were aware of Lear being thrown out of the cart.
Delgado further added that park managers asked cast members to remain silent about the accident.
He also claimed that the accident was surely avoidable if the driver had not been reckless.
Meanwhile, the president of the Disney Resort, President Ken Potrock, sent his condolences to the family of the victim, adding that the park management is trying hard to ensure that Lear’s family has all the resources they need at this critical time.
The investigation of the accident is still underway.
