Dr. Oz will work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was earlier selected to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The CMS, which operates under HHS, manages major programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Its mission, according to its website, is to “improve quality, equity, and outcomes in the health care system.”
Trump expressed confidence in the duo, stating that Oz and Kennedy would tackle what he called the “illness industrial complex” and the chronic diseases it perpetuates. “Our broken healthcare system harms everyday Americans and crushes our country’s budget,” Trump wrote, emphasizing that Oz’s focus on disease prevention will “ensure Americans get the most value for every healthcare dollar spent.”
Dr. Oz is no stranger to public life. Known for his appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show and later hosting The Dr. Oz Show from 2009 to 2022, Oz has built a reputation for promoting healthier lifestyles. He also made headlines in 2022 when he ran for a U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania but lost to Senator John Fetterman.
Trump credited Oz with inspiring millions to adopt healthier habits, describing him as a champion of the “Make America Healthy Again” movement. “I’ve known Dr. Oz for years,” Trump wrote, “and I am confident he will help us build a healthier, stronger America.”
