Family Tragedy: Pilot, Wife, and Children Die in Crash

(DailyChive.com) – On Monday, March 4, authorities identified the victims of a small plane crash in Nashville, Tennessee, as Victor Dotsenko, 43, his wife Rimma, 39, and their three children, David, 12, Adam, 10, and Emma, 7. The family, originally from King Township, Ontario, Canada, died tragically when their aircraft went down near Interstate 40.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash. Audio recordings released by WYMT news captured the pilot’s frantic final moments in the air. Victor’s voice crackled with urgency as he declared an emergency, saying his plane’s engine had failed. Air traffic controllers at John C. Tune Airport in Nashville responded by granting clearance for an emergency landing, but unfortunately, it proved futile.

According to the audio recordings, Victor Dotsenko could be heard relaying his distress, mentioning his altitude of 1,600 feet and his intention to land despite uncertainty about the location. His voice reflected desperation as he acknowledged being too far away to reach safety.

The single-engine Piper PA-32R, which had flown from Ontario with refueling stops, ultimately crashed near mile marker 202 on the eastbound side of Interstate 40, just three miles from the airport. The plane tragically missed the runway and ended its journey in a fiery disaster.

News of the crash reached the Dotsenkos’ hometown of King Township, prompting Mayor Steve Pellegrini to describe the loss as heartbreaking and devastating for their tight-knit community. He expressed solidarity in mourning Rimma Dotsenko, her husband Victor, and their three children. He extended support to all those impacted by the tragic event.

The children of the Dotsenko family, David, Adam, and Emma, attended UMCA Rich Tree Academy in Vaughan, Ontario. In a tribute shared on Instagram, the school described the Dotsenkos as deeply cherished community members.

The school expressed how the children brought brightness to their surroundings daily with their cheerful demeanor and interactions with peers and educators. Additionally, it was noted that Rimma and Victor Dotsenko shared a close bond with the UMCA family, leaving a significant void with their absence.
