(DailyChive.com) – Paul Harrell, a respected military veteran and firearms expert, announced his own death in a YouTube video that his manager posted after his passing. Harrell passed away at the age of 58. He had proudly served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps during his lifetime.
The video begins with Harrell explaining that he recorded this message back in December 2023. He had given his manager instructions to share it after he died. With his usual calm and straightforward tone, Harrell opened by saying, “If you’re watching this, I’m dead.”
In the video, Harrell spoke openly about his fight with pancreatic cancer. He had previously informed his viewers that doctors had caught the cancer early, and at the time, he believed he still had more time to live. “Well, we did catch it early, but not as early as I had thought,” he said. “It spread faster than we expected.”
Harrell also addressed some questions from fans who had noticed him using crutches. Many people had assumed he had taken a fall. Harrell cleared things up, explaining, “Yes, I broke my hip, but it wasn’t because of an accident. The cancer had spread to my bones.” He made it clear that the hip fractured first, which caused him to fall, not the other way around. “My time is growing very short,” he admitted somberly.
In a moment of honesty, Harrell said he expected people to “pirate” his content now that he was gone, and there wasn’t much to be done about it. He also warned that some might use his death as a chance to damage his reputation, but he trusted his fans to know what to believe.
Harrell ended his video by reflecting on his life. He said he had “very few regrets” about the way he lived, especially his work with firearms. And in true Harrell style, he closed with his famous sign-off: “So, as always, don’t try this at home, and thanks for watching.”
