Harris Accidentally Supports Protest Song That Mocks Her

(DailyChive.com) – During her recent visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Friday, March 22, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris encountered an unexpected awkward moment. As she toured the Goyco community center in the Santurce neighborhood, cameras captured her clapping along to a protest song before an aide translated its lyrics, prompting a quick change in her demeanor.

Harris had just delivered remarks in the capital city before heading to Santurce, where she engaged with local leaders and toured the community center, as reported by Fox News. Upon her arrival, she was greeted by a group of protesters holding signs, one of which labeled her a “war criminal,” while another condemned the United States as “genocidal.”

In the community center’s courtyard, Harris was seen enjoying the band’s performance, enthusiastically clapping her hands and nodding along. However, the mood shifted noticeably when a singer began to sing lyrics containing pointed inquiries directed at Harris, including questions about the purpose of her visit. The lyrics also expressed solidarity with causes such as Free Palestine and Haiti.

Once an aide translated the lyrics for her, Harris stopped clapping and instead folded her hands, indicating a change in her reaction to the song.

Before her visit to Santurce, Harris had visited a home outside San Juan that had been rebuilt after damage from Hurricane Maria, thanks to a federal program. Accompanied by government officials and department heads, she highlighted the Biden administration’s efforts in aiding Puerto Rico, mentioning an investment of over $140 billion in the territory.

During her remarks, Harris emphasized the importance of supplying communities with the resources needed to thrive, particularly in the face of extreme weather events like hurricanes.

The Democratic Vice President further championed innovations such as the installation of solar panels, describing them as crucial for providing consistent energy sources to families. She argued that this would improve their quality of life and ensure their basic needs are met.
