High Alert for Terrorist Attack at US Bases in Europe

(DailyChive.com) – US military bases across Europe are on high alert after the warnings of a possible terror attack that can target American military officials stationed across the continent.

According to a US defense official who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the bases that are elevated to the second-highest level of threat, “Charlie”, include the headquarters of the United States European Command (EUCOM) in Stuttgart, Germany.

Although the unnamed official did not provide specific details about the type of threat, he confirmed that it has nothing to do with the upcoming French elections that could otherwise trigger violence in parts of France.

American military facilities in Germany have also cautioned military personnel to “remain vigilant” in the wake of the threats. Typically, the “Charlie” warning is only issued when the military receives intelligence about a possible terrorist attack on the bases or the service members, the anonymous official added.

Another official claimed that this is the first time that they have seen such a high-level threat in more than ten years. The official argued that the EUCOM is warning against possible action by “malign actors” and advises US military personnel and their families to stay vigilant and avoid maintaining a high profile in public to avoid any potential attack against them.

It remains unclear whether the attack is linked to terrorism warnings in the Paris Olympics 2024, where ISIS has threatened bloodshed in the global sporting event. In a violent poster, the terror outfit was seen flying a remote control drone near the iconic Eiffel Tower and threatened a possible attack.

The American embassy in France, which is also under heightened alert after the Olympics threats, stated that terror attacks can happen at any place that attracts the masses, like big sporting events and tourist attractions.

Other European countries, including Germany, have also rung alarm bells in the wake of the Olympics threat as the country is also hosting Euro 2024, which is the biggest Football event of the continent.
