Hillary Clinton Accuses GOP of Following Elon Musk’s Commands

(DailyChive.com) – Hillary Clinton recently accused Republicans of following orders from billionaire Elon Musk in their handling of a failed government funding plan. Clinton took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to criticize the GOP, claiming they were leading the country toward a holiday government shutdown.

In her post, Clinton wrote, “If you’re just catching up: the Republican Party, taking orders from the world’s richest man, is on course to shut down the government over the holidays, stopping paychecks for our troops and nutrition benefits for low-income families just in time for Christmas.”

This criticism followed recent developments in Washington. Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky had suggested that Musk, a co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), might make an effective House Speaker. This came as Republicans wrestled with the leadership of current House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has been struggling to secure consensus on spending measures to avoid a shutdown.

Musk, who is President-elect Donald Trump’s top advisor on reducing government waste, has been vocal about the spending plan on X. He praised Speaker Johnson’s efforts to trim the proposed bill, commenting, “The Speaker did a good job here, given the circumstances.” Musk noted that the new plan had reduced the original bill’s size dramatically, implying that Democrats now needed to act.

Despite Musk’s approval, Republican leaders have faced internal criticism. Speaker Johnson had introduced another proposal to keep the government funded past the deadline, but it failed to gain widespread support within his own party. Some Republicans see the move as continuing to support the spending levels agreed to earlier this year by Democrats—a point of contention for fiscal conservatives.

The debate over funding highlights the ongoing division within Congress, particularly as the GOP navigates pressure from high-profile figures like Musk and their own party members. Meanwhile, Democrats, including Clinton, continue to accuse Republicans of prioritizing corporate interests over the needs of ordinary Americans.

As the holidays approach, the question remains: will Congress come together to prevent a shutdown, or will this battle over spending drag the country into deeper political gridlock? The stakes are high, with paychecks, benefits, and government services hanging in the balance.
