(DailyChive.com) – A Vermont resident, Kristy Brow of Highgate, has come forward to voice her growing concerns about the safety of her community due to a recent surge in migrants crossing the U.S.-Canada border illegally. Brow shared her story on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday, February 27, detailing unsettling discoveries on her property and expressing fear for her family’s safety.
Brow’s concerns are rooted in her personal experiences. Security cameras on her property have captured footage of migrants trespassing on her land. She has also found abandoned belongings, such as clothing and water bottles, further amplifying her unease. These incidents have forced her to limit spending time outdoors alone.
During her interview with Griff Jenkins, Brow highlighted the constant feeling of unease and uncertainty surrounding potential threats in the woods near her property. She emphasized the unpredictable nature of what might be encountered.
Brow’s experience reflects a broader trend of rising illegal immigration across the northern border. U.S. Border Patrol Swanton Sector Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia recently reported that since October 1, 2023, agents have apprehended more than 3,000 people from over 50 different countries in the Swanton Sector alone. This surpasses the total number of apprehensions from the entire fiscal years of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 combined for the same sector.
The Swanton Sector encompasses parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and upstate New York. This area and other northern border regions have witnessed a significant increase in border crossings in 2023, mirroring the ongoing surge at the U.S.-Mexico border. Statistics reveal a 241% increase in encounters at the northern border compared to the previous year.
Brow’s story sheds light on the personal impact of this surge on residents living near the border. She described witnessing her neighbors encounter migrants on their properties, further amplifying the anxiety and fear about unknown intentions.
When questioned by Jenkins about whether Border Patrol had provided guidance on personal safety measures in light of the increased activity, Brow stated that they had not offered specific instructions on self-protection. She mentioned the steps her family takes to ensure their safety – including securing their property and using firearms for hunting purposes.
