(DailyChive.com) – Progressive Congresswoman Ilhan Omar reiterated her support for Joe Biden’s presidential candidacy despite increasing calls from Democratic lawmakers that Biden should end his presidential campaign after the poor debate outing.
Omar joined the conference calls with President Biden and the Congressional Black Caucus and threw her weight behind the president, claiming that only some “outliers” oppose his reelection bid.
Other Squad members, including AOC, also announced their support for the president. AOC stated that Biden has made a final decision to stay in the race, which should end this debate once and for all.
Both AOC and Omar have remained outspoken critics of the president, particularly on his failure to stop the Israel-Hamas war that has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians since Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
Biden believes that only “elites” want him out of the race, and average American voters still rally behind him. He claimed that he visited a lot of regions before the 2022 midterm elections and already knew that the red wave was not on the cards, adding that he also thinks the same this time as well.
The president also said that he is running to rebuild the American economy and asked any Democratic presidential hopeful to challenge him at the Democratic National Convention if they think they can replace him at the top of the ticket. Biden also dismissed the claims that black voters are turning against him to support his rival, Donald Trump.
While some Democrats have once again started believing in the feasibility of Biden’s campaign, a majority of them seem to develop a consensus that Biden should retire from politics. Peter Welch became the first Democratic Senator to advise Biden to drop out of the presidential race for the “good of the country.” Nine liberal House lawmakers have also suggested Biden to quit the race, along with some other Democratic House lawmakers who expressed their frustration against Biden’s deteriorating mental abilities during a recent call.
