(DailyChive.com) – On Tuesday night, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, now an MSNBC host, made her thoughts on Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential win very clear. After hearing the election results, she delivered a highly emotional response, condemning Trump’s return to power.
For those who may not know, Psaki has a long history in Washington. She worked as a deputy press secretary under Obama, then became a communications director in his administration, and later served as press secretary for Biden. After that, she contributed to CNN and eventually joined MSNBC. Psaki’s message to viewers about Trump’s victory was blunt and full of concern.
She started by saying that many people, including herself, might find it hard to process Trump’s win. She said, “For so many of you watching right now, that news is, to say the least, a lot to digest; I understand that personally.”
Psaki went on to criticize Trump’s actions over the past several years. She reminded viewers that after Trump lost the 2020 election, he refused to accept the outcome and encouraged a violent protest at the Capitol. She noted that he campaigned while facing criminal charges for attempting to change those election results, and mentioned that he’s now running for office as a convicted felon.
Psaki also warned that Trump has promised to use his power like no other president before him, potentially targeting his political enemies. She pointed out that he’s celebrated overturning Roe v. Wade, removing rights for women, and talked about mass deportations that would impact millions of Americans. Psaki described Trump as a threat to democracy, calling him an “anti-democratic force.”
But she also had a message of hope, reminding people that democracy isn’t built around one person or job. She emphasized that those who care about democracy would keep fighting for it, just as many did after Trump’s first win in 2016.
In closing, Psaki shared her personal disappointment. She said she wished she could tell her daughter that the first woman president had just been elected. Even though she couldn’t do that, Psaki said she would tell her daughter that there are still “forces for good” in the country who would continue working to protect American values.
