(DailyChive.com) – First Lady Jill Biden wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars of American taxpayers for her back-and-forth travel from Europe to America within days just to support her stepson Hunter Biden, who is facing criminal charges for lying about his drug addiction while purchasing a gun.
On Wednesday, June 5, Jill spent her day in the courtroom with Hunter before flying to Europe the same night.
She attended the D-Day ceremonies on June 6, Thursday, and flew back to Wilmington the same evening to spend the next day in the court with his son before going back to France to join Biden at a dinner. She returned to the US on June 9 on Air Force One.
D-Day is the largest seaborne invasion of Normandy to date.
Reportedly, this 3600-mile round trip cost $345,000, a majority of which will be paid by taxpayers, although some of the bills will also be covered by the Democratic Party.
Hunter Biden is facing legal challenges for lying to a gun store owner about his drug addiction while purchasing a firearm in 2018.
Jill has previously called herself Hunter’s “mom” back in 2022. At the time, she said that she needed to back Hunter during his legal challenges, adding that it is tough to face criminal investigations.
Due to security concerns, the First Lady cannot travel on a commercial plane and is always accompanied by Secret Service agents.
According to the president of the Taxpayer Protection Alliance, David Williams, he appreciates Jill’s efforts to back her son during a testy trial, but any travel for this purpose should solely be funded by personal money instead of using taxpayers’ dollars.
Although the first son maintained his innocence throughout the trial, the jury found him guilty on all charges. He can now be imprisoned for 25 years, but being a first-time offender, it is unlikely that he will serve any jail term. Apart from jail, he can also face fines up to $500,000.
