(DailyChive.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris faced harsh criticism after her interview on 60 Minutes aired Monday. Many political commentators took to social media to mock her responses, calling them incoherent, rambling, and at times, outright false. This was one of the rare unscripted interviews Harris has done since joining the Biden administration. She has largely avoided interviews in key battleground states and has not held any press conferences recently.
During the interview, Harris was asked how she planned to pay for the administration’s proposed spending increases. Her response? Taxing billionaires. Billy Binion, a reporter for Reason, slammed her answer as “economically illiterate,” while political comedian Tim Young called her the “dumbest candidate ever.”
The issue of immigration also came up, with Harris being questioned on how to deal with the ongoing crisis at the southern border. Instead of offering a detailed plan, she said Congress needed to “fix” the problem. This answer led Breitbart News to fact-check her statement, with Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick, dismissing her response as “nonsense.”
Harris was also grilled on her changing political positions. When asked why she seemed to have shifted her stance on certain policies since running for president four years ago, Harris claimed that her “values” had remained the same. This prompted social media accounts like Trump War Room and Libs of TikTok to mock her for sticking to what they described as her “Marxist values,” calling her performance a “train wreck.”
One of the more controversial moments came when Harris implied that she had been “elected” as the Democratic nominee, even though she never received any votes in the primary. This led to yet another fact-check from Breitbart News, pointing out that it was party leaders, not voters, who rallied behind her after Joe Biden stepped aside under pressure.
Fox News host Jesse Watters summed up the public sentiment on social media, saying Harris “completely bombed” the interview.
