Nathan Wade Discloses Fani Willis Had Trump Case Planned Pre-Office

(DailyChive.com) – Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had her sights on former President Donald Trump even before she officially stepped into office. This was revealed by her former top prosecutor Nathan Wade during an eye-opening deposition before the House Judiciary Committee on October 15.

Willis’s attempt to charge Trump with election interference has faced many hurdles, both legally and publicly. Trump, who has pleaded not guilty, argues the case is purely political—a weaponization of the legal system to take him down.

Wade admitted that Willis contacted him shortly after the 2020 election but before she was sworn in. She recruited him to lead the selection of a special prosecutor specifically targeting Trump. Eventually, the committee selected Wade himself for the role.

Interestingly, Wade’s personal life got tangled in the story. Just one day after signing his contract with Willis, he filed for divorce. Not long after, Wade and Willis started a romantic relationship. Court records show that after their affair began, the two took several exotic trips, with Wade’s paychecks coming from Willis’s office during this time.

In March 2024, Wade resigned from the Trump case after Judge Scott McAfee ruled that for Willis to stay on the case, Wade had to step down. Although the judge found no “actual conflict,” he said the relationship created an “appearance of impropriety.”

Wade’s testimony also raised questions about White House involvement. He confirmed attending multiple meetings with Biden administration officials but said he couldn’t recall key details. One eight-hour meeting on November 18, 2022, took place in the White House counsel’s office—the same day Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith.

When pressed about these meetings, Wade repeated “I don’t remember” or “I don’t know” more than 50 times. He even billed for a meeting labeled “Interview with DC/White House,” yet couldn’t recall whether it was in person or by phone.

Wade also admitted to working with members of the January 6th Committee, but again, he was vague on details. Despite his lack of experience in such cases, Wade testified that no one supervised his work as special prosecutor.

Willis reportedly told Wade not to cooperate fully with the House committee, as the Trump case is still ongoing. This further clouds the issue and raises more questions about the political motivations behind it all.
