NFL Icon Brett Favre Reveals Parkinson’s Diagnosis

(DailyChive.com) – Brett Favre, the legendary NFL quarterback, recently revealed he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He shared this news while speaking at a congressional hearing on federal welfare reform. Favre, now 54, said, “Sadly, it’s too late for me, as I’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s”. But I’ve always cared deeply about finding solutions for head injuries in sports.

Favre has been open about his history of concussions throughout his career, stating that he may have suffered “thousands” of them while playing in the NFL. He has long advocated for children to avoid playing tackle football before age 14, out of concern for their safety. In fact, he shared with OutKick just last month that he suffered a head injury on the final play of his NFL career.

Favre’s comments on concussions aren’t new. In a 2022 interview on “The Bubba Army” radio show, he talked about how concussions were largely ignored during his playing days. “You get tackled, your head hits the ground, and you see flashes of light or hear ringing in your ears – that’s a concussion,” he explained. Despite this, many players, including Favre, kept playing through these head injuries because the risks weren’t fully understood at the time.

On top of his health struggles, Favre has been tied to a controversy. Back in 2020, he was linked to a welfare scandal in Mississippi. Though Favre has not been criminally charged, the state of Mississippi is suing several individuals and companies to recover $24 million of federal welfare funds. Favre has denied any wrongdoing, saying he didn’t know that a $5 million grant he helped raise for a University of Southern Mississippi athletic facility came from welfare funds.

Favre played 20 seasons in the NFL, spending most of his career with the Green Bay Packers. He also had short stints with the Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings before retiring. Zelensky expressed doubt about Trump’s ability to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.
