(DailyChive.com) – NFL legend Randy Moss recently opened up about a personal health battle, revealing he was diagnosed with cancer. The former wide receiver, best known for his time with the Minnesota Vikings, shared the news during an Instagram livestream on Friday.
Doctors found cancer in Moss’s bile duct, which lies between the pancreas and liver. After undergoing surgery to remove it, he spent six days in the hospital before being released. Moss shared the details of his diagnosis and recovery.
“I am a cancer survivor,” Moss said. “It’s been tough, but we made it through.”
Moss expressed deep gratitude to the medical team who treated him and to his fans for their prayers and support. He admitted the diagnosis came as a shock. “I never thought I’d be in this position, especially since I thought I was so healthy.”
Speculation about Moss’s health started earlier this month when he appeared on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown wearing sunglasses. On December 1, he temporarily stepped away from his role as an analyst on the show. Reports suggested that Moss was battling a serious health issue.
“As soon as I’m healthy enough, I’ll be back on set,” Moss said. “I miss being with my team, and I hope to join them again soon.”
On December 6, ESPN confirmed that Moss was dealing with a medical issue. The network praised Moss for his dedication and contributions to their team over nearly a decade, saying they fully support him and look forward to his return.
During his brief return to Countdown, Moss addressed his health struggles. “My family and I are dealing with something personal,” he shared. “I’ve got an amazing group of doctors around me, and I just couldn’t miss being here with you all.” He reassured fans that he remained committed to his role despite his health challenges.
Moss reassured viewers that he was feeling better but explained why he continued wearing sunglasses on air. “If you see me with these ‘Michigan turnover glasses,’ it’s not disrespect. It’s part of what I’m going through. I appreciate all the prayers and support.”
Over his 14-year NFL career, Moss played for the Vikings, Raiders, Patriots, 49ers, and Titans. He scored 156 career touchdowns and still holds the single-season record for touchdown receptions with 23 in 2007.
Moss’s resilience on and off the field continues to inspire fans everywhere.
