(DailyChive.com) – More than two weeks after OJ Simpson’s departure, his cause of death has finally been revealed.
Simpson’s longtime attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, stated that he received the death certificate of the former NFL running back, according to which he died of prostate cancer.
LaVergne said that he and many others already suspected that cancer was his cause of death, and the death certificate has now confirmed it.
In February, Simpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer and subsequently went through chemotherapy.
After this diagnosis, speculations swirled that Simpson was admitted to hospice. However, he himself took to social media outlet X and dismissed these speculations.
As his health took a major dip in 2024, Simpson looked visibly feeble in his recent public appearances before his death. He eventually died on April 10 after battling cancer.
While many people lamented his death, some also remained unmoved due to his controversial life, where he often made headlines for committing murders and armed robberies.
He was acquitted from a double murder case of 1994 where he was accused of orchestrating the killings of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman. The murder was followed by a historic police chase that was broadcast live and watched by over 95 million people worldwide.
He was eventually acquitted of the murder case.
Ronald’s father, Fred Goldman, took a sigh of relief at Simpson’s death, stating that his death was not a loss for the world.
TV personality Caitlyn Jenner also posted some harsh words on social media after Simpson’s death, calling it “good riddance.”
In 2007, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison for an armed robbery and kidnapping as he broke into a hotel room of a sports dealer to steal memorabilia, which Simpson claimed originally belonged to him.
However, he served only nine years in jail and was later released on parole. Some people suggested that this jail term was long overdue on the disgraced NFL star for his involvement in the 1994 murders.
