Poll: Trump Trial Outcome to Influence 2024 Vote

(DailyChive.com) – A recent nationwide poll indicates that Trump’s conviction in the New York hush money trial will not hurt his chances in the November presidential elections.

In the polls that were conducted just before Trump’s conviction, a majority of people suggested that the court verdict would not change their stance regarding the former president.

Almost two-thirds of voters revealed that they will not change their voting decision based on Trump’s court verdict, with only 17% of voters stating that the guilty verdict will make them less passionate to vote for the former president. Meanwhile, 15% of voters also claimed that they would be more likely to vote for Trump after the guilty verdict.

The latest polls that came just after the announcement of the verdict against Trump show Biden slightly ahead of Trump in the presidential race. However, all results fall within the polls’ margins of error.

The most encouraging sign for the former president is the lead he is enjoying over his Democratic rival in six of the seven battleground states that are likely to decide the race to the White House. Trump is also tied against Biden in the state of Virginia, according to the Roanoke College polls, which can spell trouble for the Democrats who won this state in the last four presidential races.

Multiple pollsters have stated that while the guilty verdict may change the opinion of some voters, it is not something that can dramatically change the outlook of the presidential race. This is due to the fact that most people have concrete opinions in favor or against the former president.

Trump is the first-ever US president to face criminal charges. His sentencing is set for July 11, just four days before the start of the Republican National convention, where he will be officially nominated as the presidential candidate of the GOP.

Most legal experts believe that the former president would be allowed probation instead of being jailed.
