(DailyChive.com) – Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico, who himself survived an assassination attempt in May, grilled Trump’s political rivals and extremist media networks for propagating hatred against the former president that eventually motivated a young man to try to kill Trump.
Fico, who was critically wounded in the attack after being hit multiple times by his critic, stated that the attack on Trump was a “carbon copy” of his assassination attempt. According to Fico, the media creates a sense of urgency in hostile elements who seek to “sort things out” on their own.
When Trump’s critics failed to stop him, they created an extremist narrative against him, which mobilized a “loser” to take a shot on his life, Fico added.
The Slovak prime minister also argued that Trump’s political adversaries will now start preaching about the necessity of reconciliation and dialogue after seeing things going out of control.
A couple of days before Trump’s assassination attempt, Fico wrote that populist leaders worldwide are facing violent attacks as their opponents are unable to defeat them in the elections. He further argued that such leaders are vulnerable to face prison, and if they remain popular, an “activist” just picks up weapons to eliminate them.
On May 15, Fico was shot five times by a left-wing poet who confessed that he did not want to kill the prime minister but to injure him to the extent that he could no longer serve his duties.
During the investigations, the attacker acknowledged that he shot Fico for his inability to provide military aid to Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russia.
After recovering from life-threatening injuries, Fico announced to forgive the attacker and not to pursue legal cases against him. Instead, he blasted the highly polarized political environment in his country and blamed the media and his adversaries for creating an environment that motivated a 71-year-old activist to attack him.
The prime minister specifically singled out media entities funded by liberal billionaire George Soros and criticized them for following a violent path.
