(DailyChive.com) – ESPN NFL host Sam Ponder grilled critics who are pushing the Kansas City Chiefs to fire their kicker, Harrison Butker, after his commencement speech that was labeled as misogynistic.
Talking about the petition to kick out Butker from the Chiefs, Ponder said that there is an “un-American” effort going on against the placekicker who should be allowed to speak freely due to his constitutionally protected rights.
The NFL commentator also revealed that she agrees with many comments of Butker, primarily those where he suggested that women find true solace in being a mother and a wife.
She stated that she loved her work and burned the midnight oil to reach here, but being a mother gives her unparalleled satisfaction. Only her family and not her company will be with her in difficult times, Ponder added.
However, Ponder also suggested that she disagreed with the three-time Super Bowl champion on some points. According to her, even single women who prefer a career over family can have a satisfied life, and she was living a good life before getting married.
Ponder felt pride that Butker could express his opinions freely in the United States.
She was speaking about the petition that has garnered more than 222,000 signatures within seven days.
Meanwhile, the daughter of the Chiefs CEO, Gracie Hunt, also backed Butker, stating that she was one of the lucky human beings whose mother stayed at home to look after the family and this way, she played a significant role in her success. Gracie further added that not all women have an opportunity to be stay-at-home moms.
Butker recently made headlines for his controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College, where he stated that homemaking is a primary role of women alongside being a wife and a mother.
He also criticized LGBTQ+ Pride Month and called it a “deadly sin.” Apart from that, the placekicker slammed liberals, including President Joe Biden, for supporting abortion.
