RFK Jr. and Trump to Reveal More Democrats Backing Campaign

(DailyChive.com) – Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, who recently suspended his campaign to endorse former President Donald Trump, told reporters that he anticipates more disaffected Democrats to support the GOP nominee.

Kennedy appeared on “Fox News Sunday” on Aug. 25, for his first exclusive interview since suspending his campaign on Friday, Aug. 23, and officially endorsing Trump. During that interview, he said he expects more Democrats or former Democrats to side with the former president over Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.

Host Shannon Bream brought up what some of the other media outlets were saying about Kennedy immediately after announcing his decision, mentioning the Wall Street Journal described the move as “a double-edged sword” because even if it gains Trump some of Kennedy’s voters it may also turn off existing voters. The left-wing publication warned about what Kennedy would do to the Trump administration. Bream said the Wall Street Journal warned that voters may be concerned about someone like Kennedy being anywhere near health and environmental agencies.

Bream then asked Kennedy if, as the media claims, Trump would simply thank the independent candidate for his support, “make no promises about the future,” and then move on without any more “joint campaign appearances.” Kennedy replied that he would be “actively” campaigning with Trump, implying he may appear at future rallies.

Kennedy said he thinks the former president will make “a series of announcements about other Democrats” joining the Trump campaign.

The day after Kennedy’s remarks, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard officially endorsed Trump. The former Democrat ran for her party’s nomination in 2020 before dropping out and endorsing Biden shortly after the pandemic lockdowns began. She quickly became disillusioned with her party and eventually left and declared herself as an independent. Gabbard has experience going toe-to-toe with Trump’s opponent, having faced off with Harris on the debate stage in 2020 and criticizing her heavily.

Kennedy’s slogan after joining with Trump is “Make America Healthy Again.” He says that he “talked specifically” about the issue of “shareholder value for pharmaceutical companies,” which he said the Wall Street Journal “may be worried about,” and that Trump was in line with some of Kennedy’s plans to leave a legacy of healthier children in the US.
