Senator McConnell Receives Boos at Republican Event

(DailyChive.com) – Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell faced boos from the charged crowd during the Republican National Convention as he appeared at the event to announce that Kentucky’s delegates for the Republican nomination for President would go to Donald Trump.

Since the end of Trump’s presidential tenure in 2021, McConnell has developed his differences with Trump and has often been labeled as a Republican in Name Only (RINO) by his critics.

He appeared during the first day of the RNC and was announcing the allocation of all 46 Republican delegates of Kentucky where the pro-Trump crowd booed him. The Senate Minority Leader apparently smiled and gave a thumbs up to the crowd.

McConnell has previously accused the former president of inciting the January 6 chaos and rejected his voter fraud claims, which became a test of many Republicans’ loyalty to Trump after the 2020 elections.

Trump later called McConnell a “disgrace” for his generous cooperation with Democrats, which allowed them to meet their socialist spending goals.

McConnell only supported Donald Trump’s reelection campaign when Nikki Haley dropped out of the presidential race after a dismal Super Tuesday performance, and Trump’s nomination became all but certain.

He has also attracted severe criticism from many Republican circles for forcing the GOP lawmakers to vote for pro-Ukraine aid and called the recently passed $60 billion of Ukraine funding one of the most important victories of his political career.

He has also blasted conservative journalist Tucker Carlson for interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin and criticizing the Ukraine aid package. McConnell has asserted that if Americans help Ukraine win its war against Russia, it will be an encouraging sign for democracies all over the world.

With Trump on the top of the Republican ticket and having strong chances to win the White House this year, McConnell has already announced to step down as the GOP Senate Leader in November while continuing to complete his senate term that ends in 2027.
