Shooting at Khyree Jackson’s Vigil Leaves One Dead

(DailyChive.com) – An unfortunate shooting at the vigil in remembrance of Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson left one person dead and another injured.

Community members joined Jackson’s friends and family to pay tribute to the 24-year-old defensive back who lost his life in a road accident on July 6.

However, this event only increased the suffering of Jackson’s loved ones when an unknown person opened fire near a parking lot in front of Jackson’s former high school, Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, hitting one person in the chest and another in the leg.

When the police reached the scene, both the victims were suffering from gun wounds, which prompted law enforcement to take them to a nearby medical facility where the female victim survived, but the male succumbed to his injuries.

A $25,000 prize has been announced for anyone who can help law enforcement reach conclusions in the investigations that are still in their early stages, with the police unable to find any clue about the suspect.

Jackson was just starting in professional football and was recently recruited by the Vikings in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

He and his two other football friends, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton, Jr., died on July 6 when another car smashed their vehicle in Prince George’s County. Jackson’s friends played with him for years and starred in different school teams. Both of them were also aspiring to start professional careers in the sport.

Investigations reveal that 23-year-old Cori Clingman was driving the car that struck the trio’s vehicle and forced it to crash into multiple trees by going off the road. Clingman was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and can now face criminal charges. Her previous records revealed that she had received overspeeding tickets at least twice before, including an incident where she was driving at almost twice the allowed speed.

Fans paid tribute to Jackson, who once won the Employee of the Month award at a grocery store and struggled hard to achieve great heights in football.
