(DailyChive.com) – Today when a New York Court is trying Trump for a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, mainstream media outlets are reluctant to report that Daniels still owes more than $300,000 to the former president.
In 2022, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed Daniels’ appeal to review a lower court verdict that ordered her to pay $300,000 to Trump for a failed defamation lawsuit.
In 2018, Daniels filed a defamation lawsuit against then-President Donald Trump who suggested that the adult film star lied about the incident in which she claimed that she was threatened to maintain her silence about her physical relationship with Trump.
At that time, Daniels claimed that a random man approached her in Las Vegas and threatened her not to speak anything against Trump. According to Daniels, the man also looked at her infant daughter and said it would be so tragic if something happened to her mother.
However, the judge ruled that Trump’s remarks were protected under the First Amendment and that they were just hyperbole, which is normal in politics.
The judge also found that Daniels had to compensate Trump for his legal fees in the case.
In 2022, Daniels appealed this decision, claiming that she did not permit her attorney to file the defamation lawsuit, but he still proceeded against her wishes. She also asked the court to reduce the fines, claiming that the fees were not reasonably justified. The appeals court upheld the decision.
Back at the time, Trump praised the verdict and reiterated that he had never engaged in any relationship with Daniels. The former president also noted that the lawsuit was driven by political biases, and it should not have happened in the first place.
Daniels has stated that she would prefer to go to jail instead of paying even a single penny to Trump. She labeled Trump a “predator” and accused him of harassing women and still being able to receive compensation money.
