Super Bowl to Feature Black National Anthem, Sparks Online Debate

(DailyChive.com) –  A new report alleges that just before Republicans took control of the House in 2023, they deleted over 100 encrypted files linked to the January 6th Capitol riot probe. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) claims this revelation throws the investigation into a “new phase.”

As the chairman of the House Administration Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee, Loudermilk asserts that a forensic analysis uncovered the deletion of 117 files on January 1st, 2023, potentially containing interviews and depositions. He accuses the former Democratic leadership of the committee, chaired by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), of “obstruction” and demands the decryption of the files for further investigation.

In an interview with Fox News, Loudermilk accused Pelosi’s Select Committee of attempting to hide certain aspects of the documents. He further asserts that, under the Democrats, the investigation aimed to suggest a particular narrative, accusing them of selectively presenting evidence and leaving out information that could be helpful.

This revelation comes as House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) significantly bolsters resources for the newly Republican-led investigation. Nonetheless, Loudermilk maintains his focus on uncovering the truth and asserts that he has the backing of the Speaker, who has shown support by increasing the size of his staff.

Their investigation aims to answer critical questions, including security failures on the day, the erection of gallows by Trump supporters, and the flow of intelligence leading up to the attack. Loudermilk emphasizes the need to understand how rioters breached the Capitol and alleges that intelligence suggesting an attack was known but not acted upon by relevant authorities.

The deleted files and the Republican-led investigation add another layer of complexity to the ongoing legal battle surrounding January 6th. While authorities have charged more than 1,200 individuals and continue to pursue more, the newly discovered file deletions and contrasting approaches raise questions about transparency and the ultimate pursuit of truth.

Meanwhile, the upcoming trial of former President Donald Trump in March, accused of conspiring to overturn the election, further underscores the gravity of the events surrounding January 6th. Attorney General Merrick Garland emphasized the Justice Department’s dedication to ensuring accountability for all individuals involved in the events of January 6th, irrespective of their role on the day or behind the scenes.
