Texas Proposes 1,400-Acre Ranch for Deportation Efforts

(DailyChive.com) – Texas has stepped forward with a bold plan to support President-elect Donald Trump’s effort to ramp up deportations of undocumented immigrants. Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced that the state is offering to lease a 1,400-acre ranch to the federal government for detention facilities. This land, located 35 miles west of McAllen, Texas—a border town near the southern tip of the state—could become a critical site for Trump’s immigration enforcement.

In a letter to Trump, Buckingham said the land would be available to the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or the U.S. Border Patrol for law enforcement use. She described the potential facility as one for “processing, detention, and coordination of the largest deportation of violent criminals in the nation’s history.”

The state acquired the ranch from a previous owner who had resisted border security measures. According to Buckingham, the former owner refused to allow border fencing and had blocked Texas law enforcement from accessing the property. With this obstacle removed, the land now stands ready for a new purpose.

During an interview with Fox News, Buckingham emphasized her support for Trump’s immigration policies. “What I care about is that we have safe communities,” she said. “Too many of our children are being harmed by violent criminals crossing the border. I fully back the Trump administration’s commitment to getting these individuals out of the country.”

She also pointed to the recent election results as proof of the public’s desire for stricter immigration enforcement. “This election sent a clear message: Americans want safe communities and legal immigration. The policies of the last four years have failed to deliver on those expectations,” Buckingham stated.

After Trump’s victory, Buckingham and her team began exploring ways to assist his agenda. The idea of leasing the Starr County ranch arose from these discussions. She highlighted the land’s practical advantages, noting that it’s mostly flat farmland, making it easy to develop. It’s also close to international airports and a key border crossing.

“We’re ready to do whatever we can to help remove violent criminals from American soil,” Buckingham said. “This ranch is just one way we’re stepping up to make that happen.”
