(DailyChive.com) – Renowned actor and filmmaker Tim Robbins condemned the heinous assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump and urged left-wing conspiracy theorists to move past “blind hatred” of people based on the difference of opinion.
Robbins criticized those who began drawing parallels between his 1992 movie, Bob Roberts, and the attempt on Trump’s life. In the movie, a political candidate running for office staged an assassination attempt against himself to increase his chances in the elections. However, Robbins noted that, unlike the movie, the unfortunate attempt on Trump’s life was an attack on a real human being. He stated that anyone downplaying the murder attempt on Trump is in a “deranged mindset.”
The veteran actor also advised such people to feel some “shame,” or their hatred would kill their souls and strip away any remaining humanity.
Other actors and celebrities also condemned the attack on Trump’s life. For instance, actor Wendell Pierce argued that political violence is not a new thing in America, and Trump’s attack marks the latest instance of this violence in the United States.
Liberal comedian Bill Maher also sent his condolences to Trump and claimed that the shooter did unparalleled damage to the reputation of leftists, who can no longer claim ethical superiority over the right for their nonviolent political approach.
Maher went on to say that Trump is the luckiest “motherf—er” present on the earth for winning the presidential elections despite losing the popular vote, surviving an assassination attempt by a razor-thin margin, and facing a candidate like Joe Biden in the 2024 elections who is having the tough time of his life.
However, Maher’s remarks also triggered controversy as he claimed that Trump will politically capitalize on the assassination attempt, adding that the MAGA world has its own “martyr” now.
Multiple bipartisan lawmakers, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, also condemned the violence against the former president.
