(DailyChive.com) – In an unexpected twist, several relatives of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic Party’s vice-presidential nominee, have publicly backed former President Donald Trump. This has raised eyebrows, considering Walz’s prominent role within the Democratic Party.
The photo in question was shared by Charles Herbster, a former Republican candidate for governor of Nebraska. It shows people wearing blue t-shirts with “Nebraska Walz’s for Trump.” These individuals are related to Governor Walz on his grandfather’s brother’s side, according to a representative. Their endorsement of Trump has stirred political conversations.
Trump, quick to acknowledge support, took to Truth Social to thank Jeff Walz, the Minnesota governor’s brother. “Thank you very much, Jeff,” Trump wrote. “It is a Great Honor to have your Endorsement. I look forward to meeting you soon!”
Jeff Walz has been vocal about his disagreements with his brother’s politics. In a March 2023 Facebook post, Jeff expressed frustration with the country’s direction, stating, “We’ve just become a third-world banana republic.” He revealed they hadn’t spoken in eight years, citing ideological differences.
When a commenter suggested reaching out, Jeff admitted the political divide was too wide. He also shared that his family wasn’t informed when Tim entered politics, adding to the strain.
Jeff hinted at publicly endorsing Trump but seemed uncertain about pulling his family into the spotlight. “The stories I could tell,” he commented. “Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future.”
Governor Walz has three siblings: Sandy Dietrich, Jeff Walz, and the late Craig Walz. Craig tragically passed away in June 2016 during a camping trip.
