Trump Announces First Executive Orders of His Next Presidency

(DailyChive.com) – President-elect Donald Trump recently shared some of his first priorities as he prepares to take office. In an interview that aired over the weekend on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump told Kristen Welker that his first executive orders will focus on the economy, energy, and border security.

When asked what actions he would take on his first day, Trump said, “Well, a lot of it will have to do with economics. A lot’s going to have to do with energy. A lot’s having to do with the border. We’re going to immediately strengthen up the border and do a real job. And some of the basics.”

Trump has consistently promised a hardline approach to immigration, and during the interview, he highlighted one of his more controversial plans: ending birthright citizenship. Birthright citizenship, a right granted under the 14th Amendment, allows anyone born on U.S. soil to automatically become a citizen, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. Trump stated he would aim to end this policy using executive action.

When asked if such a move could be done through executive orders, Trump responded, “I was going to do it through executive action, but then we had to fix COVID first, to be honest with you. We have to end it.” This declaration adds to the list of promises Trump has made to tackle immigration challenges, including building a border wall and increasing security along the southern border. While some of his critics question whether ending birthright citizenship is legally possible without a constitutional amendment, Trump seems confident in his ability to deliver on this commitment.

The president-elect also emphasized the importance of revitalizing the economy and addressing energy issues. Although he didn’t share many specifics, Trump’s campaign has frequently highlighted tax cuts, deregulation, and boosting American energy production as key strategies.

As Inauguration Day approaches, many are watching to see how Trump will follow through on his bold promises. While some of these plans may face legal or political hurdles, his remarks make one thing clear: Trump intends to start his presidency with decisive actions that reflect his campaign priorities.
