Trump Supporter Attacked for Wearing 2024 Hat

(DailyChive.com) – In Bath, New York, a man allegedly assaulted a stranger over his “Trump 2024” hat on Friday morning. Police from the Village of Bath reported the incident occurred at Tops Friendly Markets on West Morris Street around 10:00 a.m.

According to police, the suspect, identified as 60-year-old Robert Yott, approached the victim, a complete stranger, and became aggressive due to the hat’s political message. Yott reportedly punched the victim multiple times in the face, injuring him badly enough to break several teeth and cause severe bleeding. Police confirmed Yott had no previous connection to the victim, making this a seemingly random attack rooted in political disagreement.

Yott was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Steuben County Jail and is now awaiting arraignment.

This incident comes as tensions rise in the days leading up to the upcoming election. Trump hats, known for sparking both support and opposition, have been at the center of other recent clashes. Just last week, a pair of American women were removed from a flight from London to Austin after a brawl broke out over one of them wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat. Airline staff had to intervene to control the situation, resulting in both women being removed from the flight.

Another similar incident happened at the first game of the World Series, where a woman wearing a MAGA hat faced online harassment. Sitting just behind home plate, she became a target of angry posts on social media, with some calling her offensive names simply for her choice of headwear.

These recent cases show how deeply divisive political symbols, like Trump hats, have become in public spaces. As Election Day nears and candidates like Donald Trump and Kamala Harris rally their supporters, such symbols continue to provoke strong reactions, sometimes leading to violence.
