(DailyChive.com) – Secret Service Special Agent in Charge Tim Burke revealed that the U.S. Secret Service lacked resources to cover Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania rally, where he almost lost his life.
The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, wrote to the FBI Director Chris Wray and informed him about Burke’s bombshell revelations. Jordan asked Wray if the NATO summit and First Lady Jill Biden’s event the same day in Pittsburgh really reduced the ability of law enforcement to protect Donald Trump.
Jill Biden landed at the Pittsburgh airport around 4:00 pm local time and delivered a speech at 5:00 pm, the exact time when Trump was also scheduled to speak at his Butler rally. However, Trump appeared for his speech around 6:00 pm, just nine minutes before an aspiring assassin shot bullets at him.
Jordan also grilled the FBI for their failure to provide enough intelligence to the relevant authorities about the potential threat against Trump despite being the leading intelligence agency of the country.
The lawmaker is now demanding that the FBI should inform Congress about the details of the ongoing investigations of the incident and present the agency’s communication documents related to the unfortunate event. Jordan has directed Wray to answer some critical questions regarding the shocking security lapse that led to the shooting of the former president in broad daylight.
Meanwhile, Secret Service embattled former Director Kim Cheatle, who resigned after facing intense bipartisan calls to step down, told Congress that her agency was not facing staff shortage due to the NATO event. As Cheatle resigned from her office after acknowledging the stark failure of her agency, President Joe Biden appreciated her for the “decades of public service” and called her an honorable person for taking full responsibility for the security breach.
The NATO summit concluded two days before Trump’s assassination attempt, with top government officials from all 32 NATO allies gathered in Washington D.C. to primarily discuss the Russia-Ukraine war.
