UFC Chaos Plot: Exploding Drones, Snipers

An illegal immigrant from Mexico — shielded from deportation by an Obama-era program — allegedly masterminded a plot to blow up drones over a White House UFC event and then gun down the survivors, including President Trump.

Story Highlights

  • Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, 31, of Omaha is charged as the ringleader of a plot to attack the UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House grounds on June 14, 2026.
  • The plan called for explosive drones to force an evacuation, then snipers would shoot fleeing attendees and “high-value targets” including President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Elon Musk.
  • The Department of Homeland Security says Alvarez is a Mexican national who overstayed a tourist visa that expired in 2001 and was later shielded from deportation under the Obama administration’s DACA program.
  • The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) learned of the threat just four days before the event and arrested five suspects across four states before any attack took place.

A Deadly Plan Targeting the White House

Federal prosecutors say Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez went by the name “Shepherd” in encrypted online chat groups where the attack was planned. Court documents say he picked the targets, laid out sniper positions, and chose drone launch locations. A co-conspirator, 19-year-old Tycen Proper of Ohio, told FBI agents that “Shepherd” was “the primary individual involved with planning” and described him as “aggressive in tactical planning.” [1]

The alleged plot had two waves. First, small explosive drones would detonate over the UFC fight stage to force a mass evacuation. Then snipers would open fire on the fleeing crowd. A second wave would hit the White House gate. Prosecutors say the goal was to “jump-start” a revolution by killing top U.S. officials. Targets named in court documents included President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Elon Musk, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Republican lawmakers. [11]

FBI Moved Fast to Stop the Attack

FBI Director Kash Patel says the bureau learned of the threat on June 10 — just four days before the event. Agents worked quickly, making arrests across Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, and California. Alvarez was arrested during a raid at a church building he owns in Saline County, Nebraska. [2] In total, five people are now in federal custody. Investigators also identified 23 other people linked to the broader conspiracy. The FBI’s Omaha field office says there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The five charged are Alvarez of Nebraska, Daniel Eskridge of Missouri, Tycen Proper of Ohio, and Bryan Omar Roa and Michael Alan Thomas of California. Each faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Alvarez and Proper face the additional charge of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. Proper also faces weapons violations. A conviction on the murder conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. [1]

An Illegal Immigrant Shielded by Obama’s DACA

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed Thursday that Alvarez is a Mexican national who entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa. That visa expired in December 2001, but Alvarez never left. In 2014, the Obama administration granted him protection from deportation under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis put it plainly: “This illegal alien from Mexico should never have been allowed in our country. He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House.” [7]

This case puts a sharp spotlight on the real-world cost of lax immigration enforcement. Alvarez overstayed his visa for over two decades. Rather than being deported, he was given legal cover under DACA. He then allegedly used that time to recruit co-conspirators across the country and plan a mass-casualty attack on American soil. Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen called Alvarez “one of the key ringleaders” and praised the Nebraska State Patrol for its role in the FBI-led operation. [9] The case is a stark reminder that open borders and weak enforcement policies are not just political debates — they carry life-and-death consequences.
