Woman Shoots and Kills Alleged Intruder with 9mm Gun

(DailyChive.com) – A woman in Pennsylvania killed an alleged intruder who broke into her house at night. The incident happened in the 1000 Block of 10th Avenue in Beaver Falls when a female homeowner heard the noise of glass breaking and door slamming in the basement of her house at around 5 a.m. on April 17.

She went downstairs immediately with her 9mm gun and saw an intruder standing in front of her. The woman fired three shots and killed the 49-year-old intruder, Brent Farmer, who reportedly entered the house by breaking a basement window.

Nate Bible, the District Attorney of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, defended the woman’s actions and hinted at no legal action against her. He stated that intruders make an intentional choice when they break into someone’s house, as their aim is either to steal or physically harm the residents. In both these cases, Bible continued, the use of deadly force becomes legal.

According to the “castle doctrine,” which is being followed in Pennsylvania and 45 other states across the country, a person can use deadly force to defend themselves in their house against an imminent threat. However, the definition of the castle doctrine slightly varies from state to state.

Even though the police are investigating the matter, Bible believes that the woman will not face any charges.

When asked how weapon-less people should behave in such situations, Bible stated that there are multiple options, like attending a self-defense class, having a big dog, and using any other immediately available thing as a weapon.

Julian Jackson, a resident of the same block, discussed the event with a local media outlet. He said that his friend called him in the morning and asked what was happening outside.

As Jackson stepped out, he saw the whole area covered with yellow tape as investigators rushed to the scene. Police spent almost 7 hours at the house and questioned the woman before releasing her.
