Mayor Sheng Thao Lashes Out Post-FBI Raid

(DailyChive.com) – Progressive Mayor of Oakland, Sheng Thao, seemed furious during a press conference she conducted after the FBI raided her home and seized a wide range of items.

The exact cause of the FBI raid is unknown, but the pattern of raids suggests that the Mayor is facing scrutiny over a 2018 campaign donation scheme in which she allegedly received donations from straw donors associated with the politically influential Duong family. The FBI also raided multiple properties belonging to the Duong family, who run California Waste Solutions.

According to Thao, she is “innocent” and was not involved in any wrongdoing. She further added that this investigation has nothing to do with her and that she is not charged with any crime at all.

Thao also slammed some Oakland billionaires and accused them of orchestrating a plot to throw her out of the office. The far-left Mayor questioned the timing of the FBI raid, which came just one day after her critics gained enough signatures to push her into a recall election that could oust her from office.

She also noted that the FBI should have at least engaged in a conversation with the sitting Mayor before raiding her house. Despite the efforts of “radical right-wing forces,” Thao continued, she will not surrender to anyone trying to initiate criminal investigations against her.

As Thao went on a rant against law enforcement, her troubles escalated immediately, as her attorney resigned after complaining that she had not consulted with him before the presser. Her chief of communications, Francis Zamora, also resigned without giving any specific reason for his departure.

Now when Thao faces recall elections, her political opponents are also preparing to run for the Mayoral office. Loren Taylor, who came second in the 2022 Mayoral race, only with a margin of 677 votes, stated that he already knew that Thao’s leadership would have drastic consequences and that she has no reasons to label her possible ousting a conspiracy.
