Police Initiate Manhunt for Chick-fil-A Shooter

(DailyChive.com) – Two men were gunned down in a Chick-fil-A restaurant.

The victims were shot in the 5300 block of North MacArthur Blvd in Irving, Texas, by 37-year-old Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, according to the Irving Police Department.

The incident occurred at around 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement from a department representative.

According to the spokeswoman, two individuals with gunshot wounds were discovered by cops inside the restaurant. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by responding fire medics.

The suspect was nowhere to be found when the police arrived, having sped away in a vehicle- a silver 1997 Honda bearing the Texas license plate GVH6205.

Evidence and interviews with witnesses point toward a targeted hit and not a random shooting. The suspect’s wife, along with the two victims, was an employee at the restaurant.

Patricia Portillo, 49 years old, was one of the employees slain, according to an arrest document. The second victim, who is not named in the complaint, is a man.

According to reports, Argueta’s wife was a witness who named her husband as the shooter. She escaped unharmed.

Mendoza Argueta, who had initially escaped in a Honda, was apprehended early Thursday morning, but the police have not disclosed how or where they were able to find him.

The Chick-fil-A restaurant is still shuttered on Thursday as biohazard cleanup workers work inside.

There is an immigration hold on 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, and he is accused with capital murder. The death penalty is being considered for Argueta’s case. Argueta is an illegal alien who hails from El Salvador, and Irving City Jail records indicate that Argueta is now awaiting arraignment.

Chick-fil-A has not yet announced a reopening date.

This double killing occurred shortly after two undocumented Venezuelan migrants reportedly brutalized and killed 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston. Court records indicate that 26-year-old Franklin Ramos and 21-year-old Johan Martinez enticed Jocelyn under a bridge, undressed her up to her waist, and brutally attacked her for two hours.

As part of the attack, the men—who had only been in the country for a short time—allegedly strangled the victim and then dumped her corpse in a bayou.

Prosecutors stated that she had her wrists bound behind her back. Both individuals are facing charges of capital murder.
